Jack Farrell was born in Brooklyn, New York and was raised in Cleveland Ohio, Pittsburgh Pennsylvania and Pinehurst North Carolina. He graduated from Lehigh University (Bethlehem, PA) with a BS in Business Administration and an MBA in Business Administration - Finance.
A veteran of the US Army and Pennsylvania Air National Guard, Jack’s business career includes positions managing world -wide IT development and support organizations at IBM as well as IT management at Consolidated Rail Corporation, Wyeth Pharmaceutical Research and Biomedical Computer Research Institute.
Jack’s association with Pinehurst dates back to 1960 when his family moved to Pinehurst. After Jack and his wife Janet’s retirement from business in 2010, they moved back to his home town of Pinehurst to continue his long-time association with the community.
Jack’s community and civic involvement has included: serving on the Pinehurst Historic Commission, director of the Pinehurst Civic Group, volunteer at the Tufts Archives, creating the widely distributed “A Guide to Historic Pinehurst”, and the history room at the Village Welcome Center. Jack has also served as President of multiple homeowners’ associations both in Pinehurst and in Pennsylvania and has served on Zoning Board of Appeals, Municipal Parks and Recreation Boards and Historic Commissions in Pennsylvania and Connecticut.
