Due to an increase of COVID-19 cases in North Carolina and Moore County, the Village of Pinehurst Public Services Department is implementing precautions as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other federal, state, and local authorities.
The Public Services team remains committed to safely continuing normal curbside collection services, but will not collect any materials placed outside of carts beginning Monday, March 30, 2020. This implementation includes white goods, flattened cardboard boxes, and all other recycling or trash bags placed outside of your provided containers. Please continue to recycle correctly and set carts out with enough space to provide our drivers room to service your home safely. Excess garbage, recycling, and other materials can be deposited at any of Moore County's convenient sites according to county policies.
"We apologize for any inconvenience these changes may cause," said Public Services Director Mike Apke, "and we appreciate your understanding, flexibility, and commitment to safety during this time."
For questions regarding solid waste collection, please contact the Public Services Department at 910-295-5021.
The Solid Waste Division of the Public Services Department operates under the direction of the Assistant Director of Public Services. There are nine members of the Solid Waste team, led by a Solid Waste Superintendent. All carts must be placed curbside prior to 7:00 am on each scheduled day, three feet apart from any obstruction, and with space between carts. In addition, Village ordinance requires residents to return all carts to storage by the end of the collection day.
