The Police Chief reports directly to the Village Manager and serves as a member of the senior leadership team. In addition to the Chief, the Police Department consists of 22 sworn police officers, four dispatchers, one administrative assistant and six reserve auxiliary officers to protect the life and property of approximately 15,760 residents.
Areas of responsibility include:
- Patrolling three response areas
- Dispatching approximately 1,000 routine and emergency police calls monthly
- Investigating and gathering evidence to solve crimes
- Promoting strong community engagement

Callers can rest assured that this tip line is strictly anonymous and any information gathered from it will be kept confidential, unless the caller wishes to reveal his/her identity. The Pinehurst Police Department appreciates support from the public and encourages Pinehurst residents to utilize this tip line to keep crime low. "If you see something, say something" is the motto for keeping our community safe!
The Pinehurst Police Department supports the NC Special Olympics by participating in the Annual Torch Run. In addition, the department typically holds several fundraising events throughout the year to benefit those with special needs.
