Healthy Aging Recommended Reading

The Pinehurst Senior Advisory Committee has partnered with Given Memorial Library and the Given Tufts Foundation Bookshop to make trusted information about healthy aging easier to find. The Committee’s Healthy Aging Working Group developed a recommended reading list covering longevity, brain health, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, disease prevention, and overall wellness. Many of the recommended books are available to borrow from Given Memorial Library, while residents interested in purchasing their own copies can visit the dedicated Healthy Aging section at the Given Tufts Foundation Bookshop.

Start Where You Are

Healthy living does not require running a marathon or completely changing your routine. A short walk, a balance class, a shared meal, a telephone call with a friend, or participation in a community activity can be a meaningful first step.

Choose activities that are appropriate for your health and abilities. If you have been inactive, have a medical condition, or are concerned about falling, talk with a qualified healthcare professional before beginning a new exercise program.
