America 250 in Pinehurst
Commemorating 250 Years of American Independence
In 2026, the United States will commemorate 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the birth of a new nation dedicated to the ideals of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Over the past two and a half centuries, our country has grown, changed, struggled, and evolved. This historic anniversary offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on our founding principles — how they have shaped our past, how they resonate today, and how they will guide us into the future.
Through a yearlong series of events, exhibits, and community projects, the Village of Pinehurst invites residents and visitors alike to explore the pivotal moments, places, and voices that have shaped our state and our nation — from the Halifax Resolves to the civil rights movement and beyond.
When are we “We the People”?
Join us as we reflect, learn, celebrate, and share in this important national milestone.
