Village of Pinehurst Announces New Senior Advisory Committee and Opens Applications

The Village of Pinehurst is inviting residents age 55 and older to apply for membership on the newly established Senior Advisory Committee (SAC), an advisory body created to strengthen communication between Village leadership and the senior community.
Established by the Pinehurst Village Council on February 24, 2026, the Senior Advisory Committee will help raise awareness of issues important to older adults while providing insight and feedback to Village Council and staff. The committee is part of the Village’s ongoing effort to foster a more age-friendly community where residents can remain active, engaged, and connected.
The SAC will serve as a forum to identify trends, needs, concerns, and opportunities affecting older adults in Pinehurst. Members may also provide input on how Village facilities, parks, sidewalks, transportation systems, events, and communications can better support the needs of senior residents.
“Communities that support residents as they age well tend to work better for everyone,” said Village Manager Doug Willardson. “This committee will help ensure the perspectives and experiences of our senior residents are part of the conversation as the Village continues to plan for the future.”
The committee will consist of up to nine members appointed by the Village Council. Applicants must be permanent residents of the Village of Pinehurst or its Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ) and at least 55 years of age at the time of appointment.
The Senior Advisory Committee is tentatively scheduled to meet on the first Monday of each month at 3 p.m. in Assembly Hall, located at 395 Magnolia Road. Meetings are expected to begin in May and will not be held during July and August.
