Pinehurst Police to Host Community Scam Awareness Event November 14

Stay Out of the Rough: Fraud Prevention Town Hall

Post Date:10/27/2025

The Pinehurst Police Department will host a Fraud Prevention Town Hall on Friday, November 14, from 3–5 p.m. at Assembly Hall inside Village Hall (395 Magnolia Road). The event is free and open to all residents.

Titled “Stay Out of the Rough: Fraud Prevention Town Hall,” the session will feature presentations from Pinehurst Police detectives on how to recognize, prevent, and report common scams. Fraud continues to be one of the most frequently reported crimes in Pinehurst, with residents increasingly targeted through phone scams, online schemes, text phishing, and financial fraud.

“We continue to see an uptick in fraud-related crimes in our community,” said Chief Glen Webb. “Scammers are getting more sophisticated, but so can we. This town hall is about giving residents the tools to protect themselves before they become victims.”

Detectives will discuss:

  • The most common scams currently affecting Pinehurst residents
  • Warning signs to watch for in phone, email, and online activity
  • How scammers target victims—especially through emotional triggers
  • Steps to take if you suspect fraud
  • How to safely report a scam

No registration is required.
