The Fair Barn, maintained and operated by the Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department, is the oldest surviving early twentieth-century fair exhibition hall in North Carolina. It was built in 1917 and used for the Sandhills Fair, one of the major country fairs in the Southeast from 1915 through 1925. Restored in 2002, The Fair Barn is now a multi-purpose community gathering place. The ceiling soars 2 1/2 stories high, with large skylights that allow natural light to permeate the room. The pigmentation in the unusual floor complements the massive wooden structure. For your catering needs, the well-equipped, large kitchen, includes a refrigerator, freezer, ice maker and commercial gas range. State of the art dressing rooms and beautifully tiled restrooms also add to the charm of the building. The Fair Barn has been the site of exhibitions, receptions, private parties, auctions, educational clinics, business seminars, concerts, art and antique shows and any other functions requiring a large multi-use facility. The Fair Barn is available for rent to residents, non-residents and businesses. See the Schedule of Events for a list of upcoming events at the Fair Barn. The Fair Barn is located within the confines of the Pinehurst Harness Track at 200 Beulah Hill Road South.
Serving as a multi-purpose gathering place for receptions, private parties, rehearsal dinners and weddings; the Fair Barn can easily accommodate any function requiring a flexible and unique environment.
