The Fair Barn, maintained and operated by the Pinehurst Parks and Recreation Department, is the oldest surviving early twentieth-century fair exhibition hall in North Carolina. It was built in 1917 for use as the Sandhills Fair, one of the major country fairs in the Southeast from 1915 through 1925. Restored in 2002, The Fair Barn is now a multi-purpose community gathering place. The ceiling soars 2 1/2 stories high, with large skylights that allow natural light to permeate the room. The pigmentation in the unusual floor complements the massive wooden structure.
The Fair Barn has been the site of exhibitions, receptions, private parties, auctions, educational clinics, business seminars, concerts, art and antique shows, and any other functions requiring a large multi-use facility. The Fair Barn is available for rent to residents, non-residents, and businesses. Please visit our website, www.thefairbarn.org, for more information. If you would like to reserve or tour The Fair Barn, please call the office to set-up an appointment.
Once you stage or attend an event at The Fair Barn, you will discover why it is truly...the place to be in Pinehurst.
