History, Charm and Southern Hospitality
The Public Services Department is divided into three divisions: Administration, Streets and Grounds, and Solid Waste/Recycling.
Public Services Administration is responsible for the day to day administrative and technical functions of the department. The Streets and Grounds Division is responsible for maintaining the Village’s 106 miles of paved streets, right-of-ways and common areas, which includes mowing, weed-eating, tree trimming, cleaning ditch lines and storm drains. Routine tasks include contracting pothole and utility cut patching, installing drainage pipes, and maintaining street and traffic signs. Although Engineering services are contracted and located in the Community Development budget, triage of many of issues related to Engineering are handled by Streets and Grounds Division. The Solid Waste/Recycling Division provides the Village residents with once a week curbside solid waste collection. Recycling and yard debris are also picked up every week. There is also a recycling center located at the Public Services facility that is open five days a week from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
The Public Services Department is located at 700 McCaskill Road East and may be reached at (910) 295-5021 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
