Employee safety is one of the Village’s primary concerns. To that end, we have appointed a Safety Officer, established a Risk Management Committee and created a Safety Committee. Each of these initiatives supports the Village’s overall goal of maintaining a safe and healthy work environment.
Our Human Resources Director currently serves as the Village’s Safety Director. This position leads the Safety Committee, which is comprised of employees representing each of the Village departments. The Safety Committee meets monthly to discuss safety concerns in the workplace, and to coordinate safety-oriented events for our staff. Examples of safety initiatives are:
All Village of Pinehurst employees are held accountable for ensuring a safe work atmosphere. We expect our employees to take care in the operation of all equipment, to wear appropriate personal protective gear, and to identify any potential safety hazards in the workplace. These standards are in place because we value and respect the welfare of our staff.
The Village also recognizes that while precautions are taken to promote a safe work environment, there are situations where accidents can occur. In such cases we have a worker’s compensation process in place to ensure any work-related conditions are addressed effectively.
Worker’s compensation is one of the focus areas of the Village’s Risk Management Committee. The Committee consists of the two Assistant Village Managers, the Safety Officer and two citizen representatives. The group meets regularly to review and evaluate risk issues impacting the Village. They develop strategies to address areas of risk, and implement appropriate controls to minimize areas of opportunity.
